As a platform for wine discovery, purchasing, and experiences tailored to individuals’ desires, Melier wanted to refresh their website with a clean design and dynamic setup. Barrel addressed this by creating a simple and refined design system that focuses on the user’s experience with the brand to encourage discovery and familiarity within the wine world.
Users can easily browse Melier’s product catalog to find bottles they like, which include wine notes and clear producer information along with iconography to highlight key attributes of each bottle. Each product page also has clear “Add to Cart” actions in order to make for a simple checkout and purchase experience directly from the website.
For a more tailored experience, we included a “Find your State” functionality that indicates whether wines can be delivered to customers’ locations. Bottles that can not be shipped to certain states will be hidden from the website.
The website also includes a “Producers” section, which connects users to the stories behind wines within sections like “Meet the Team” and “Our Story”, along with a multimedia section that provides familiarization through photos and videos from wine producers.
The full Melier experience can be encompassed in a club membership, where users have access to their account to view order details and easily access product information included as part of their personalized wine experience.
Melier plans to democratize unique wines and offer experiences that feel modern, exclusive, and exciting, yet without the pretension that can sometimes be synonymous to the ‘wine connoisseur’ world. Their newly designed website is a fresh introduction to their value of making wine accessible to all, and the flexibility of the platform allows the Melier team to highlight different features that improve the quality and value of the experience.
