Our hearts weigh heavy this past year with the countless events that left us helpless, especially the recent rise in Asian American hate and violence that has shaken the AAPI community. The Asian American Foundation’s mission is to serve the Asian American and Pacific Islander community in pursuit of belonging and prosperity that is free from discrimination, slander and violence. According to The New York Times, the organization has pledged and raised $250 million to AAPI causes, the largest philanthropic commitment in history.
Barrel partnered with The Asian American Foundation to launch their new website with the aim to serve 23 million Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders through a seamless digital experience.
Barrel and The Asian American Foundation worked closely together to launch their organization in preparation for Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Working in tandem with their branding agency Pentagram, Barrel created low and high fidelity wireframes to map out all the content needs and brainstormed together ideas that would best serve and make a difference in the community.
Barrel’s key objective was to design a system that is modular and scalable with various content surrounding the AAPI community that instills trust and hope for the community and showcase storytelling from board members, leaders and peers.
The modular approach not only catered to users on all screen sizes, but also allowed The Asian American Foundation team to update content effortlessly in the content management system as they continue to grow their active initiatives and showcase notable press.
